Cross-Disability Early Intervention Centres for Children with Disabilities
Early childhood (0–6 years) is a time of remarkable brain development. It is a critical period that determines a person’s ability to reach their lifelong health, social, and economic potential. Providing quality early childhood intervention during this time supports children in developing the skills necessary to lead independent and dignified lives.
Early Intervention provides specialized support and services for infants and young children who are at risk or have disabilities and/or developmental delays, along with their families. These services help in their development, well-being, and participation in family and community life.
Initially, single-window Early Intervention Centres were set up in 7 National Institutes and 7 Composite Regional Centres on a pilot basis. Currently, 22 Cross-Disability Early Intervention Centres for Children with Disabilities (CDEICs) are operational across various National Institutes and Composite Regional Centres.
